How to Gua Sha Your Face for Lymphatic Drainage

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that uses a smooth-edged tool to gently scrape the skin. When done on the face, it helps stimulate circulation, reduce puffiness, and support the lymphatic system in draining excess fluid and toxins.

This simple, at-home ritual can leave your skin looking sculpted, de-puffed, and glowing — especially in the morning or after a long day.

Make It

Step-by-Step Gua Sha Routine (5–10 Minutes)

  • Neck (Start Here — Lymph Drains Downward)

    Place tool under your ear

Glide down the side of your neck toward your collarbone

    Repeat 5–10 times each side

  • Jawline & Chin

Start at the center of your chin

Glide along the jawline toward your ear

Wiggle slightly at the earlobe to encourage drainage

    Repeat 5–8 times each side

  • Cheeks

    Start near the nose

Sweep across the cheekbone toward the hairline

Use the long edge of the tool for broader strokes

    Repeat 5–8 times each side

  • Under-Eye Area (Be Extra Gentle!)

    Use the small curved edge

Start at the inner corner of the eye

Glide under the eye toward the temple

Repeat 3–5 times (very light pressure!)

  • Forehead

Start at the center above your brows

    Glide upward toward the hairline

Then sweep outward toward the temples

    Repeat 5–8 times

  • Finish with Light Tapping

Use fingertips to lightly tap all over the face

    Encourages final lymphatic movement
